YUMMY in MELBOURNE

The cast of YUMMY is made up of a powerhouse team of drag and burlesque performers, and has been serving delectable smash-hit cabaret events across Australia. Described as "one of the best nights out I've ever had" by Theatrepress, YUMMY has become something of a phenomenon that looks set to leave its wild mark on the stage.

Featuring core performers Karen From Finance, Tanzer, James Andrews, Beni Lola, Hannie Helsden, Benjamin Hancock, Valerie Hex, and Zelia Rose (week 1), YUMMY is performing in Melbourne International Comedy Festival for the first time after smash hit events in Sydney Mardi Gras, Midsumma, Melbourne Music Week, Melbourne Fringe, and at the Chamaeleon Theatre (Berlin).

Zelia Joins Dita Von Teese's U.S. tour "Art of the Teese"

Zelia has been selected along with the worlds best burlesque artists to feature as a solo performer in Dita Von Tesse's world renouned burlesque production. "Art of the Teese" is a brand new show from the team that brought you "Strip Strip Hooray" the biggest burlesque show in the world. Zelia is the first australian to be invited to join a Dita Von Tesse production. 

Australian Burlesque Festival

This year Zelia will be a headlining artist in the Australian Burlesque Festival along with Australian Performers - Dolores Daiquiri , Alyssa Kitt, Elena Gabrielle, Jacqueline Furey and International Burlesque Star Dirty Martini.  This year the festival is scheduled to hit Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Blue Mountains, Canberra, Adelaide, Darwin, & Byron Bay.

Zelia Rose Ranked in Global Burlesque Top 50 List

Zelia Rose has recently been annouced on 21st centurys top 50 burlesque artists of the year. The list celebrates the best of the best from around the world decided by public votes. This is the second time she has appeared in the ranking having found a spot in the australian top 10 in 2014.

Lost Paradise

Catch Zelia this NYE performing Dance, Burlesque and Fire Performance at Lost Paradise /(SYD) 

The festival will include a fully functioning Big Top circus tent, which for four hours each night will be filled aerial hoops, trapeze artists, dancers and contortionists. Beattie — who was the mind behind (among others) The Empire Strips Back: A Star Wars Burlesque Parody, Dames of Throne and Arnie: The Musical — will present his latest creations. Mysterious characters from The Ringmaster, a 6'8" balance of good taste and taboo, to The Box Headed Beauty, a jewel so rare it must be hidden from the world.

An 8-week course for insight, knowledge and movement based techniques of how to take the old into the new. Art history has done so much ground work for us and forms what we see in culture today. Today making your own art is about doing what’s true to you and doing things in the spirit of inquiry. Learn how to transcend this into your own creativity with understanding and inspiration of years gone by. You’ll be taken through the physicality and undertones of 18th century burlesque to now. Understand the inspirations of the time and motivation behind the styles and influences.

This workshop will explore movement and character, focusing on dance and physical theatre.

Week 4 – 1920s – The golden era of raucous women, The Charleston and Prohibition.

Week 5 – 1930s – Decade of innovation and dancers who became some of the best known legends in the biz.

Week 6 – 1950s – The Burlesque Revival – Striptease, The Showgirl and Hollywood.

Week 7 – 1960s – Exotica, GoGo, Fashion and Film.

Week 8 – 1980/NOW – Neo Burlesque and the ever evolving art form.
